*** in Residence Kyotoは、世界中から訪れる多様な才能を持つクリエイターと、京都で暮らす人々が、一定期間をともに過ごし、学び合い、未来へつながる関係を育む“創造的滞在”のためのレジデンスプロジェクトです。
私たちが行うのは、単なる空き家や拠点の貸し出しではありません。京都市が2000年から続けてきた“アーティスト・イン・レジデンス”を発展させ、アートだけでなく、建築・工芸・文学・食・スタートアップなど幅広い分野のクリエイターを1か月以上受け入れます。地域住民との交流を促し、京都の日常や生活文化の「当たり前」を捉え直すことで、お互いの創造性を高め合います。
本プロジェクトを通じて、世界のクリエイターと京都の若者、地域住民職人をはじめとした才能を有する人たちが協働し、技術継承や新しい価値創造、伝統の再評価が促進されることを目指します。本市の資産をはじめ、大学や神社仏閣など、多様な施設を文化・国際交流の拠点として活用し、京都各地に個性豊かなレジデンスを広げ、草の根のネットワークを築きます。

“*** in Residence Kyoto” is a residency project that connects creators from around the world with people living in Kyoto to share daily life, exchange perspectives, and build relationships for the future.
Inspired by Kyoto’s 25-year artist-in-residence history, it welcomes creators across art, architecture, crafts, literature, food, and startups for 1–3 month stays. By engaging with local residents and reinterpreting everyday culture, they reveal new charms of the city.
Residences are hosted by community members, where conversations, meals, and events foster pride and lasting bonds.
Coordinators and young people act as bridges, gaining cross-cultural experience and expanding networks globally.
The project also partners with universities, shrines, temples, and former schools to create bases for cultural exchange. Together with creators, residents, and craftsmen, it promotes the inheritance of techniques, new value creation, and rethinking traditions—building grassroots networks that link Kyoto to the world.

Youth Coordinator
*** in Residence Kyotoでは、クリエイターやレジデンスのオーナーと協働し、プロジェクトの企画・運営を通じて、人・場所・活動をつなぐ「ユースコーディネーター」制度を導入しています。毎年、京都市内の大学生を対象に公募・選考を行い、5名程度のユースコーディネーターを選出しています。
*** in Residence Kyoto has established a Youth Coordinator Programme, bringing together university students who collaborate with creators and residency hosts to develop and manage projects and connect people, places, and practices. Around five students from universities in Kyoto City are selected each year through an open call.
