◎Overview
Dohjidai Gallery is a large gallery that is not only dedicated to art fans but also to a wide range of people who enjoy contemporary art.
Located on the corner of Sanjo-dori / Gokomachi-dori, which can be considered to be the center of Kyoto’s culture and art scene, the “1928 Building” that houses the gallery is also a historic building designated as a registered tangible cultural property of Kyoto City.
In the basement, INDÉPENDANTs operates as a separate entity. Artists renovated a space that was almost like an abandoned place and recreated it as a modern community space with an underground atmosphere. In addition to provide food and drinks, it also hosts various art events.
Using contemporary as a keyword, in an unfinished space called “gallery”, we ask about the state and way of life of society with the artists who are living in the same time.
Dohjidai Gallery wants to be a source of creativity that opens up a new era.

変化を続ける京都・南エリア東九条の街に、GALLERY GARAGEを開設しました。
扉のない開かれた空間は、通りとゆるやかにつながり、人々の行き交いの中に自然とアートが立ち現れる環境を生み出します。
鑑賞のための場所にとどまらず、街の日常と交差する“ひらかれた場”として機能します。
三条御幸町にて活動を続ける同時代ギャラリーの蓄積を基盤に、その枠組みを街へと拡張する新たな試みとして始動。
企画展を軸に、地域と国内外のアーティストを結びながら、ギャラリーガラージュは、街とともに変化し続けるプラットフォームとして展開していきます。

Higashikujo in Minami-ku is currently gaining attention as an emerging cultural and art district in Kyoto. Located within walking distance of Kyoto Station, Tofukuji Station, and Kujo Station, it offers excellent access while retaining a peaceful local neighborhood atmosphere with supermarkets, convenience stores, and daily amenities nearby.

- Dōjidai Gallery (同時代ギャラリー)
For 25 years, Dōjidai Gallery has supported a wide range of artists as a prominent gallery space in Gokomachi, Kyoto. Expanding its creative experiment, it launched Gallery Garage in Higashikujo to foster a deeper dialogue between artists, contemporary art, and the public, while offering artists advice and support for their exhibitions and production.

同時代ギャラリーは、1996年「同時代性」をキーワードに、特定の美術ファンだけではなく、広く一般の人々が現代美術を気軽に楽しめるギャラリーとして誕生しました。
その表現手法は、平面・立体・インスタレーション・パフォーマンス・映像・ライブ・トークショーなど多岐にわたります。
同時代ギャラリーが所在する「1928ビル」は、1983年に京都市の有形文化財に指定された歴史的建造物です。京都の文化・アートシーンの中心部ともいえる、三条通御幸町角に位置し、付近には近代建築が点在しており、「１９２８ビル」にて発信される文化は過去と現代を融合させ、未来へとみちびいているかのような独特な雰囲気を漂わせます。
同時代ギャラリーは、移りゆく時代の中で京都のアートシーンを牽引しながら現代美術の可能性を問いかけ、新しい世代の作家を発掘、育てるインキュベータであり続けることや、社会文化としての美術を通じてアジア、欧米との交流を深めることを目標としています。
