「＊＊＊ in Residence Kyoto（アスタリスク・イン・レジデンス）」は、京都発の創造的滞在を考え、「観光」的な滞在だけではない「創造」的な滞在を受け入れる仕組みづくりとして、京都市が支援を行っているプロジェクトです。アートに限定せず、建築や文学、工芸や料理、スタートアップなどのビジネス領域も含め、世界各地の多様な分野のクリエイターを受け入れる試みです。

2026年6月より、京都に滞在中の海外クリエイターが自己紹介やリサーチ、制作過程、滞在中の気づきを共有する月例イベント「Monthly Check-in Presentation & Exchange」を開催します。本イベントは、完成した成果を発表する場というよりも、現在取り組んでいることや探求しているテーマを共有し、京都の文化関係者、事業者、学生、レジデンス関係者、地域の方々とつながるための開かれた交流の場です。

第一回登壇者

1. Thiébaud Chollet

Japan: Stone Country

日本建築は、特に西洋において、木造建築や大工の伝統と結びつけて語られることが多くあります。本リサーチプロジェクトでは、もうひとつの視点として、日本を「stone country」として捉えることを試みます。地質や石は、信仰、建築技術、美意識、集合的記憶の形成に深く関わってきました。
日本各地でのフィールドワーク、ドローイング、写真、インタビュー、アーカイブ調査をもとに、聖なる石と山岳信仰、石の建築技術、庭園や建築における石の美学、宗教的・政治的空間における岩の記念碑的・物語的な役割を探ります。
今回の発表では、プロジェクトのリサーチフレームワーク、初期の参照事例、仮説を紹介します。

クリエイター紹介

フランス出身の建築家・リサーチャー。現在、日本に1年間滞在しながら、地質、石、建築、建設文化、ランドスケープの関係に関するリサーチプロジェクトを進めています。フィールド調査、ドローイング、写真、執筆、ドキュメンテーションを組み合わせて活動しています。
パリと東京で建築を学んだのち、マルセイユで改修プロジェクトに携わり、主に日常的な建築や宗教建築に取り組みました。また、南インドの実験的・精神的コミュニティであるオーロヴィルに関するリサーチも行っており、現在はその成果の出版化に向けて取り組んでいます。

2. kyuri kim (trace)

本発表では、kimkyuriのアーティスティック・プラクティスと制作プロセスを紹介します。
彼女の作品は、外部からの声に応答しながら、人間の生と自然の関係への深い意識を反映しています。自然から直接採取した素材を用い、それらが新たな形、質感、表現へと変化していく過程を探求しています。素材が持つ固有の特徴や変化のプロセスは、自然における循環について考えるきっかけとなっています。彼女の実践は絵画にとどまらず、パフォーマンス、写真、映像、彫刻へと広がり、伝えたい感覚や気づきに応じてメディアを選んでいます。

kyuri kim は、自然から深く学びながら制作を行うアーティストです。自然から採取された素材は、彼女自身と自然界との直接的なつながりを生み出し、自らもまた自然の一部であることを思い出させます。絵画、パフォーマンス、写真、映像、彫刻など、複数のメディアを横断しながら、人間と自然の関係を探求しています。

3. 渡邉和代・永澤萌絵

ローカルアーティストがレジデンスをする意義

私たちは、2024年から京都・京北で継続している長期的なアーティスト・イン・レジデンスの実践について発表します。
京都を拠点に活動するアーティストだからこそ、PERSPECTIVE Residence Fuuとの協働を通じて、京北という場所に時間をかけて関わり続けることができています。本発表では、ランドスケープシアター、展示、地域活動、農作業、地域住民の方とのコミュニケーションなどを通じて、私たちの実践がどのように育まれてきたのかを紹介します。短期的な滞在ではなく、ひとつの場所に継続して関わり、共通体験や関係性を積み重ねていくレジデンスの可能性について考えます。

京都の旅するパフォーミング・アート グループ。劇場のほかに、屋外や空き家での上演や、絵画・音楽・建築など他分野のアーティストとのコラボレーションを行う。 2020年より、全国各地の風景を舞台機構としてとらえ、遠景から眺めるように鑑賞する「ランドスケープシアター(風景演劇)」を発表。これまで静岡県『原泉アートデイズ！』、愛媛県『とうおんアートヴィレッジフェスティバル』などに招聘される。

＊＊＊ in Residence Kyoto is a project supported by City of Kyoto, exploring ways to welcome “creative stays” in Kyoto that go beyond tourism. It aims to build a framework for hosting creators from diverse fields around the world, not limited to art, but also including architecture, literature, craft, food, and business fields such as startups.

Starting in June 2026, we will host a monthly event, “Monthly Check-in Presentation & Exchange,” where international creators staying in Kyoto can share their self-introductions, research, creative processes, and reflections from their time in the city. Rather than focusing only on finished outcomes, this event creates an open space for sharing work-in-progress ideas and ongoing questions, while connecting with Kyoto-based cultural practitioners, businesses, students, residency organizers, and local communities.

1. Thiébaud Chollet

Japan: Stone Country

Japanese architecture is often associated with wood construction and carpentry traditions. This research project offers another perspective: Japan as a “stone country,” where geology and stone have shaped spiritual practices, construction techniques, aesthetics, and collective memory.
Based on fieldwork, drawing, photography, interviews, and archival research across Japan, the project explores sacred stones and mountain worship, stone construction techniques, garden and architectural aesthetics, and the memorial role of rocks in religious and political spaces.
This presentation introduces the project’s framework, early references, and hypotheses.

Bio

A French architect and researcher currently travelling across Japan for one year while developing a research project on geology, stone, architecture, construction cultures, and landscape. His practice combines field investigation, drawing, photography, writing, and documentation.
He studied architecture in Paris and Tokyo, and later worked in Marseille on renovation projects, with a focus on ordinary and religious architecture. He has also conducted research on Auroville, an experimental and spiritual community in South India, which he is currently developing toward publication.

This presentation introduces kimkyuri’s artistic practice and working process.
Her work responds to external voices and reflects a deep awareness of the relationship between human life and nature. Using materials often collected directly from nature, she explores how they can be transformed into new forms, textures, and expressions.
Through this process, each material reveals its own characteristics and invites reflection on cycles within nature. Her practice expands beyond painting into performance, photography, video, and sculpture, with each medium chosen according to what she wishes to convey.

3. 渡邉和代・永澤萌絵

The Meaning of Local Artists Taking Part in a Residency

We will present our long-term artist-in-residence practice, which has been ongoing in Keihoku, Kyoto since 2024.
As artists based in Kyoto, we are able to continue engaging with Keihoku over time through our collaboration with PERSPECTIVE Residence Fuu. In this presentation, we will introduce how our practice has developed through landscape theatre, exhibitions, local activities, agricultural work, and communication with local residents.
Rather than seeing residency as a short-term stay, we will consider the possibilities of continuing to engage with one place and building shared experiences and relationships over time.

A travelling performing arts group based in Kyoto. In addition to theatre performances, they create works in outdoor spaces and vacant houses, and collaborate with artists from other fields such as painting, music, and architecture.
Since 2020, they have presented “Landscape Theatre,” a form of performance that treats landscapes across Japan as stage mechanisms and invites audiences to view them from a distance. They have been invited to programmes including Haranoizumi Art Days! in Shizuoka and Toon Art Village Festival in Ehime.
