A week-long Program 企画内容
FabCafe Kyotoが主宰する、偏愛や衝動をサポートするレジデンスプログラム「COUNTER POINT」第16期メンバーとして活動中の、数宝朱音（すほう・あかね）による展示企画を実施します。 画面内に小さな四角を積み上げることで、誰でも簡単にピクセルアートが制作できるモデリングツール「MagicaVoxel」。数宝は、これらのソフトやFabCafe Kyotoの3Dプリンターを駆使し自身で制作に励む傍ら、ワークショップを通してデジタルアートの楽しさを広く他者と共有するための場づくりをおこなってきました。 作品の制作とワークショップを並行して実施するなかで、レジデンス活動前は想像もしていなかった自身の創造性の発露に触れたといいます。 本展では、数宝自身の「変化」への態度に主眼を置き、数宝が制作したピクセル状のオブジェクトをインスタレーションとして空間全体に展開します。滞在制作に伴い心境が移ろうことそのものを楽しみながら制作を続けてきた数宝は、他者の存在があるからこそ、その変化を楽しむことができると語ります。 「変化を本当の意味で楽しめるようになるのは一人ではなく、誰かがいてくれるからこそかもしれない。自分がさまざまな場所に赴き出張形式でワークショップを行う理由の一つはそこにある。デジタルアートはあくまでもツールであり、自己表現であるアート作品を生み出すことは、人との対話のきっかけでもある。まさにFabCafe Kyotoは自分にとってそんな場所だった。変化を共に楽しんでくれる人、迷ったとき話を聞いて相談に乗ってくれる人、同じ目線で並走してくれる人がいることで、ものづくりはもっと楽しいものになる。」 展示期間中、空間に存在するオブジェは数宝によって解像度が操作され、少しずつ変化し続けます。大きなものから小さなものまで、いつも同じように見える風景を未知のものとして捉えられる、遊び場でありレッスンのような空間をご期待ください。
Exhibition by Akane Suhou, Current Member of FabCafe Kyoto’s Residency Program “COUNTER POINT” Vol.16
An exhibition by Akane Suhou, currently participating as a member of the 16th cohort of COUNTER POINT, a residency program hosted by FabCafe Kyoto that supports passionate obsessions and creative impulses, will be held.
Using MagicaVoxel, a modeling tool that allows anyone to easily create pixel art by stacking small squares on a screen, Suhou has been producing works with this software and FabCafe Kyoto’s 3D printers. Alongside her personal creative practice, she has also been actively creating spaces to share the joy of digital art through workshops. Through the parallel processes of art-making and workshop facilitation, Suhou says she has encountered forms of creativity within herself that she could not have imagined before joining the residency.
This exhibition focuses on Suhou’s attitude toward “change,” showcasing pixel-like objects she has created as an installation that spreads throughout the space. As her mindset has naturally shifted through the process of working in residence, Suhou has come to enjoy the act of creating through change itself. She reflects that it is precisely because of the presence of others that such change can be appreciated.
“Being able to truly enjoy change might not be something you can do alone—it might be possible only because there’s someone else there with you. One reason I travel to different places to hold workshops is exactly that. Digital art is just a tool; the artworks that emerge through self-expression are also opportunities for dialogue with others. FabCafe Kyoto has been such a place for me. Having people who enjoy change together, who listen when I’m unsure, and who walk alongside me with shared perspective—this makes the act of creating so much more enjoyable.”
During the exhibition, the resolution of the pixelated objects in the space will be continuously altered by Suhou, causing the installation to gradually shift over time. From large-scale to small-scale changes, the space invites visitors to see familiar landscapes as something new—a playground and a lesson in perception. We are pleased to present an exhibition showcasing the outcomes of “Enjoying Digital Art Together”, a project by Akane Kazuho, a member of the 16th cohort of the residency program “COUNTER POINT” organized by FabCafe Kyoto.
The exhibition features pixel works and graphics created during her residency, unfolded in the space as reflections of the transformations she experienced throughout her stay.
