Van Gogh AiR × ＊＊＊ in residence
In November 2025, ＊＊＊ in Residence Kyoto will collaborate with Van Gogh AiR (Zundert, the Netherlands) to host a Dutch artist within our residency network. During their stay, the artist will have the opportunity to engage with local culture, connect with our collaborators, and carry out research, culminating in a supported presentation of their work.
2025年11月、＊＊＊ in Residence Kyotoは、オランダに拠点を置くVan Gogh AiRと協働し、オランダ人アーティストを1名、京都のレジデンスネットワークに迎え入れます。滞在中、アーティストは地域文化に触れ、私たちの協働者と交流しながらリサーチを行い、その成果を私たちのサポートのもと発表する機会を持ちます。
About Van Gogh AiR｜ヴァン・ゴッホAiRとは
The history of Van Gogh AiR begins with the Dutch Reformed Congregation of Zundert, which in 1862/63 purchased an old house next to the Protestant church on the advice of Vincent van Gogh’s father, Theodorus van Gogh. Theodorus collected sixty guilders from the local community to refurbish the building, contributing ten guilders himself. Thanks to him, the house was saved from demolition and converted into a sexton’s house for the church where he served as pastor.
By 2008, the building had once again fallen into disrepair and faced the threat of demolition. The Van GoghGalerie & Gastatelier Foundation prevented its demolition, planned a renovation, and reinterpreted the building in relation to Vincent van Gogh.
With support from the Province of North Brabant and the municipality of Zundert, the historic sexton’s house was fully restored and is now used as a guest house and gallery for contemporary art.
Next to the historic sexton’s house, a contemporary guest studio has been built. This studio hosts artists from the Netherlands and abroad for one-month residencies. Artists stay in the restored sexton’s house and create works inspired by “following in Van Gogh’s footsteps.” In 2021, a second guest studio opened at De Moeren Estate, located in a grand Flemish barn that will become part of the future Van Gogh National Park, offering two-month working periods.
Van Gogh AiR provides artists with the unique opportunity to create work in a historic and inspirational environment while fostering local and international artistic exchange.
ヴァン・ゴッホAiRの歴史は、1862〜63年、ヴィンセント・ファン・ゴッホの父テオドラスの助言により、オランダ・ズンデルトの改革派教会がプロテスタント教会の隣にあった古い家を購入したことに始まります。テオドラスは地域のコミュニティから60ギルダーを集め、自身も10ギルダーを出資して建物を改修しました。そのおかげで家は取り壊しを免れ、彼が牧師を務める教会の司祭館として使用されました。
しかし2008年には再び建物の状態が悪化し、取り壊しの危機に直面しました。Van GoghGalerie & Gastatelier財団が取り壊しを阻止し、改修計画を策定するとともに、ヴィンセント・ファン・ゴッホに関連した新しい意義ある活用法を考案しました。北ブラバント州およびズンデルト市の支援を受けて、歴史的な司祭館は完全に修復され、現在はゲストハウス兼現代アートのギャラリーとして使用されています。
歴史的な司祭館の隣には現代的なゲストスタジオが建設され、オランダ国内外のアーティストに1ヶ月単位で滞在制作の機会を提供しています。アーティストは修復された司祭館に滞在し、「ゴッホの足跡をたどる」体験からインスピレーションを得て作品を制作します。2021年には、将来ゴッホ国立公園の一部となる De Moeren Estate（デ・モーレン） 内の壮大なフランドル式納屋に第2のゲストスタジオがオープンし、2ヶ月間の滞在制作が可能になりました。
ヴァン・ゴッホAiRは、歴史的かつ創造的な環境でアーティストが作品を制作する機会を提供するとともに、地域・国際的な芸術交流の拠点としても機能しています。

Noor Boiten｜ノール・ボイテン（1999, Utrecht／based in Rotterdam）
Bio
Visual artist based in Rotterdam. Working primarily with moving-image installations across sculpture, video, text, 3D animation, and photography, Boiten explores how digital culture shapes contemporary life. Their practice centers on the relationship between people and images, engaging themes of identity, gender, consumer society, and authorship. Drawing on the (im)materiality of online/offline spaces and their networks of people, objects, and ideas, their cross-media approach keeps evolving with personal growth and social change. Starting from the personal yet addressing universal concerns, they create open, resonant spaces for audiences to bring their own contexts and sensibilities.
Education: BA, St. Joost School of Art & Design (Photography/Film/Digital). Alumna of programs including Fotodok Lighthouse and TalentHub Inversie; work shown at museums and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad.

ロッテルダム拠点のヴィジュアルアーティスト。映像インスタレーションを中心に、彫刻／映像／テキスト／3Dアニメーション／写真を横断し、デジタル文化が現代社会に与える影響を探求。アイデンティティ、ジェンダー、消費社会、著作性などを扱い、「人とイメージの関係性」を作品の核に据える。オンライン／オフラインの（非）物質性と、人・モノ・アイデアの関係から着想を得て、柔軟に変容する表現を展開。個人的視点から出発しつつ普遍的テーマを扱うことで、観客がそれぞれの文脈や感覚を重ねられる「開かれた場」の創出を目指す。
学歴：St. Joost School of Art & Design（写真・映像・デジタル）学士。Fotodok Lighthouse、TalentHub Inversieほか複数のタレントプログラム／AiRに参加。国内外の美術館やフェスティバルで発表。
🏡 Residence in Kyoto｜京都での滞在拠点
苔香居 TAIKOUKYO

Nestled at the foot of Nishiyama in Kyoto, Taikou-kyo is the Yamaguchi family residence, a former village headman’s house with more than 400 years of history, now preserved as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Its name, meaning “a dwelling with the fragrance of moss,” reflects the beauty of its gardens, where dozens of varieties of moss and seasonal plants create a rich, ever-changing landscape.
The property features an Edo-period nagaya-mon (gatehouse), a machiya-style main house from the late Edo to early Meiji period, a drawing-room building (zashiki) in the shoin style from the early 20th century, and the tea house Shōandō, modeled after the tea room of Saihō-ji Temple. Together, these structures embody a harmony of architectural forms, materials, and design details that express both history and aesthetic refinement.
Today, Taikou-kyo is also being adapted for contemporary use as a site for workations and co-living, creating a unique fusion of heritage preservation and modern lifestyles. It welcomes diverse modes of stay, from short-term residencies to internship-based living experiences, offering guests an opportunity to engage with both traditional ways of life and present-day creative practice.
京都・西山の麓に位置する苔香居（たいこうきょ）は、山口家の住宅で、かつての村長の屋敷として400年以上の歴史を持ち、現在は国の登録有形文化財として保存されています。「苔の香り漂う住まい」という意味を持つその名は、数十種類の苔や季節の植物が織りなす庭園の美しさを反映しています。庭園は四季折々に表情を変え、豊かな景観を楽しむことができます。
敷地内には江戸時代の長屋門、江戸末期から明治初期にかけての町屋形式の主屋、20世紀初頭に建てられた書院造の座敷棟、そして西芳寺の茶室を模した茶室 小庵堂（しょうあんどう）があります。これらの建物は、歴史と美意識が調和した建築様式、素材、意匠の融合を体現しています。
現在、苔香居は現代的な用途にも対応しており、ワーケーションやコリビングの場として活用されています。短期滞在やインターンシップ型の滞在など、多様な滞在スタイルに対応し、伝統的な暮らしの体験と現代の創造的活動の両方に触れる機会を提供しています。
