STUDIO MONAKA, Inc. is a first-class architectural office based in the former park management office of Funaukayama Park. With architectural design as its foundation, the firm continues to explore new possibilities for public space through practices that span a diverse range of areas, including the utilization of the park, the introduction of local currency, and the creation of a workshop community, with the aim of creating a commons that includes the surrounding community.

株式会社一級建築士事務所STUDIO MONAKAは、船岡山公園の旧公園管理事務所を拠点とする一級建築士事務所です。建築設計を基軸に、周辺地域を含めたコモンズの形成を目指し、公園の利活用、地域通貨の導入、工房コミュニティの創出など、多様な領域にまたがる実践を通して、公共空間の新たな可能性を探り続けています。

Area characteristics:
- KUNNAOKAYAMA PARK is located on a small hill, just over 112 meters high, lying south of Daitokuji Temple
- The view from the top is excellent, offering a panoramic view of Kyoto City. It is also known as a viewing spot for the Gozan Okuribi (Bonfire on Five Mountains).
- The neighborhood is dotted with historical and cultural resources such as Kenkun Shrine, Imamiya Shrine, and Daitokuji Temple.
- Located in the Shino area, where nature and the city intersect, the area is home to both a tranquil residential area and creative cultural activities.

Born in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. Works as an architect based in Kyoto and Okinawa, and is co-chairman of STUDIOMONAKA. He runs OPENPARK on the third Sunday of every month at Kuneokayama Park. He is a father of four children and is struggling to raise them.
